Ysbyty Glan Clwyd Emergency Department Support Service (British Red Cross)
The Ysbyty Glan Clwyd Emergency Department Support Service ( Denbighshire) is a partnership between British Red Cross (BRC) and Royal Voluntary Service (RVS). The service will operate six days per week. Support will be supplied initially by a BRC team of staff and volunteers based in the Emergency Department and a community based RVS Team.
The primary aims of the service are to:
1. Support the overall patient experience
2. Improve patient flow through the Emergency Department
3. Link patients into support services in the community to support their wellbeing
The teams will support individuals, carers and their families including supporting some vulnerable individuals to be discharged back to their homes during its operating hours.
The Royal Voluntary Service Good Neighbour support service, which already offers outstanding community support to older people in Denbighshire, will then utilise their enhanced team to try to support even more people in the community.
Both RVS and BRC have numerous different opportunities to volunteer to support their communities in both hospitals and in local communities across North Wales.
In this particular project we will be looking for volunteers specifically to work within the Emergency Department and working as part of the British Red Cross Team supporting individuals at that moment of crisis, and supporting them to return to their homes.
On this particular project RVS require additional volunteers to continue to expand their services supporting vulnerable individuals in our communities through the Good Neighbour Scheme.
This volunteer opportunity would help to reduce the risk of future crisis to those people who have returned home .
