Volunteers who are interested in gardening to help out at our community allotments.
Gardening is generally accepted as a real benefit to mental wellbeing. Vale of Clwyd Mind supports several projects including two allotments in St Asaph (one of which is wheelchair accessible), an allotment, a community woodland area and a large allotment / woodland area in Ruthin. All of these are promoting mental wellbeing in the community, by growing fruit, flowers and vegetables in supported four hour sessions.
You will learn gardening skills, but there is also the opportunity to learn about bottling fruit, making jam, and how to make meals from the vegetables grown. Activities also include barbecues, cream teas, willow weaving and art and craft sessions.
This opportunity is for you if you are physically active, enjoy being out of doors and have an interest (not necessarily expertise) in growing organically. You need good communication skills and a commitment to inclusion and treating people from all backgrounds with dignity and respect.
Travel expenses and any other related out of pocket expenses are paid.
If you require extra assistance with volunteering or would like to know more about the role before applying then please call Emma or Louisa on 01824 702441.
