Message from Helen Wilkinson, Chief Executive
DVSC is facilitating a Denbighshire wide social media Autism Awareness Community Engagement campaign to coincide with World Autism Awareness Week which runs from 26th March to 2nd April, in partnership with the North Wales Integrated Autism Service. We would like to encourage all DVSC members and partners to join us in raising awareness about Autism in the week running up to World Autism Awareness Day on 2 April.
Plans are afoot to make the DVSC offices and building as autism friendly as we can in a short space of time. We are drawing on the following expertise and resources; http://www.autism.org.uk/professionals/autism-friendly-award/people.aspx and the ‘Can you see me’ campaign (http://www.asdinfowales.co.uk/can-you-see-me). Why not look at the information and try to do the same for your offices or community centre?
We know it’s short notice. It has been for us too to get everything ready in a short space of time. But together, we can learn, raise our own awareness, and that of others, and raise the profile of an important hidden disability.
- The press release is attached and can be found on Denbighshire Volunteers here.
- The information about how to apply for the £250 Autism Aware Community Grant programme is attached and is also available on DenbighshireVolunteers here.
- A one page schedule of DVSC’s activities and events in #AutismAwarenessWeek is attached, and also available on our website here.
Here’s to working together for an #AutismFriendlyDenbighshire.
Thanks and best wishes
