Information and Advice Service (Age Connect)
Information and Advice is a service that helps older people (50+) by connecting citizens through meaningful conversations. We provide the link between Denbighshire citizens and many other organisations and community groups, including other Age Connects and county council services.
The Information and Advice service operates in a supportive, ‘do with’ capacity. We empower people to take control of their lives by identifying individual solutions, and building on their strengths and abilities. We do this through our telephone helpdesk, drop-in facilities, website, leaflets, presentations and attendance at local events.
Information and Advice is holistic and tailored to an individual’s needs; we do not have a ‘one size fits all’ approach. Our service is responsive and person centred with an emphasis on prevention, de-escalation and preservation. Our team of staff are trained to maintain the dignity of individuals, ensuring they feel valued, are respected and have control over their circumstances.
Volunteering can develop new skills, increase confidence, self-esteem and well-being, and is a great way to help form new friendships. You may want to give something back to your local community, gain valuable work experience, or maybe just want to be more socially and physically active.
Age Connects North Wales Central invites volunteers to be involved in its charitable work. Examples include providing 10 week activity programmes in care homes, counselling, general administration, providing energy advice, tariff swaps and help with welfare benefit claims.
We would like to create a Friends of Age Connects this year with a focus on community events and fundraising.
